Got multiple vehicles to transport with you? Do you just need a driver? Do you need someone you can trust because you are overseas, on business, or maybe on duty? Long distance moving can be daunting. We move military families, relocate businesses, we help other moving companies with shippers they have coming our way from afar. We are NOT the average moving company. We are the answer to your questions, we are the professionals that will pose the right questions, even the ones that you haven’t thought of.
We are the solution
On the off chance that we are not the solution (it happens) we will help you find the solution. We have many allies in the business and work with them to provide an enveloping program of service that spans the country. Bottom line: we are willing to take the time for you to get to know us, and will do whatever it takes to gain your trust.
We promise superior customer service, rock-solid scheduling, efficiency, and grace. We are sure that you will be proud to have moved with us.
So, your company wants to relocate you, but they won’t pay for a van line due to poor ratings. Or, you simply like the crew that loaded you and would like to have them off-load for you as well. Direct Service is not synonymous with economy. It is, however, synonymous with absolute protection of your property, and EFFICIENCY. Direct Service is the most expensive way to move your belongings, but it has distinct advantages.
- Your shipment will remain untouched until it reaches its destination. With van line service your shipment WILL BE OFFLOADED into a warehouse. Then onto a trailer. Then into a warehouse. Then, who knows? It is not uncommon to hear about entire shipments being lost or destroyed with van line service.
- Your shipment will arrive much faster. Van lines zig-zag your shipment through way points and cross load into other trucks and warehouses. The logistics involved are mind-numbing. Most van line shipments can take anywhere from a week to a month, and sometimes never. We can get your shipment anywhere in the country inside of a week. Our Ranger Class Operators drive in teams, and require no additional help to offload.
Van Line Alternative
Moving Buddies teams up with ABF U-Pack Shipping to provide an economy tier, van-line alternative for long distance moving. U-Pack Shipping is designed for the do-it-yourselfer. They provide the trailer, and YOU load it. Or call us and we will provide you with expert loading service. We will even coordinate with ABF to facilitate quotes, scheduling, and even help you find a qualified moving crew to cover the offload.
This method is very safe and affordable. The overall cost is comparable to van-line pricing. The big difference, however, is the safety of your load. A van-line will typically transfer your load between several different trucks and warehouses before it reaches its destination. This extra handling increases the potential for loss or damages. ABF does not touch your shipment AT ALL. It is up to you to load and unload, or hire (3rd party) professionals to help you load/unload. ABF can, in most cases, facilitate door to door service. If your situation does not allow for this (HOA, or space limitations), we can shuttle your load to the ABF terminal, and vice-verse.
Next to driving your shipment yourself, this is the most cost effective way to approach long distance moving.

The cheapest way to accomplish your long distance move is to Drive-It-Yourself. One-way rental trucks are a good way to minimize your expenses. In such a case you still have the option to hire professionals to help you load or unload. Obviously, loading it yourself (or with friends) will save you some money. If you are a pro already, or simply have the knack (and a strong back) we definitely admire your spirit.
Our best advice in a load-it-yourself situation is to procure renter’s or home owner’s insurance for your property. The rental truck agency will provide you with cargo insurance for an additional fee. This coverage is only valid in the event of an auto collision, and leaves a lot to be desired. They will NOT cover property that was damaged during the loading/unloading process, which is where most damages occur.
Proper padding (with QUILTED cargo blankets), and wrapping (with INDUSTRIAL plastic wrap) is the ONLY way to protect furniture while loading and unloading. Long distance trips also create long periods of vibration, and unexpected bumps. Adequate padding along with proper loading sequence is required to mitigate this effect.
